21th Annual Hunter Appreciation Day
Saturday, November 26, 2016

For Residents, Hunters, Families, and Friends

Come celebrate our rich hunting heritage at this annual event in Pine Apple, Alabama---in the heart of the SOUTH'S FINEST HUNTING MECCA!  Featuring local and area cooks, artists, merchants, craftsmen, traders.

The day begins at 9AM in the downtown area as vendors begin selling their arts and crafts.   

The Parade begins at 12 noon and will include cars, trucks, horse riders, children on bicycles, and ATVs.  

At 7PM, prize money for the winner of the Les Moorer Memorial Big Buck Contest will be announced.  The hunter who kills the biggest buck that day will be awarded $500.  The ladies grand prize is $250 and the juveniles prize (age 17 and under) is $150.  

Hunter Appreciation Day is presented each year as an effort to say thank you to the many hunters and their families who make the Pine Apple area their recreational home and to celebrate the opening of hunting season.  Pine Apple Promotions is proud to be a leader in the area in promoting clean, wholesome, family fun and entertainment for our citizens and guests at this fun-filled event.

Schedule:

  • Arts & Crafts:  9pm - 4pm

  • Antique Car Parade - 12 noon

  • Big Buck Contest - Dawn to Dusk with final scoring at 6:45pm and awards given at 7pm

Arts & Crafts:

Handmade arts and crafts, flowers, plants, jewelry, Christmas presents and decorations, plants, jewelry, furniture, leather goods, children’s items, hunting paraphernalia, household items, and food will be sold.  Our event is advertised in state and national newspapers and periodicals.  Radio and television spots and features are also used.  12 x 12 booth spaces are available with or without electricity.

Les Moorer Memorial Big Buck Contest: 

Each year the Les Moorer Memorial Big Buck Contest is held as a featured event of Hunter Appreciation Day.  There are three divisions: Big Buck Winner, Ladies, and Juveniles.  A $500 cash prize will be awarded for the Big Buck Winner.  $250 will be awarded for the Women’s Division and the Juvenile Division for age 17 and younger will collect $150.

The deer must be killed on the day of the event and a $20.00 entry fee is required.  All entries are due before 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25.  The Buckmaster’s scoring system is used.  All paid entries will receive a FREE Hunter Appreciation Day T-Shirt.  Final judging will be at 6:45 and prizes awarded at 7 p.m.

Antique Car Parade:

No entry fee is required for this favorite event of the day.  Trophies will be awarded in 4 categories.  Line up is 11:00 a.m. at the historic Moore Academy School and the parade begins at 12 noon.  Participants also include horse riders, ATV riders, floats, and children on bicycles.

Other Special Events:

A supper will be held on Friday night, Nov. 25 in the Moore Academy Gym.  The food will be served from 5pm until 8pm and live entertainment will be provided.

On Saturday, November 26, 2016 there will be children’s activities throughout the downtown area as well as other special rides and live entertainment.
